Seb Forest Soul 1941 was the year my father was born, right in the middle of the bloody hell called war. I bought this album to clear out generations of war traumas from the ancestral lineage, and from my own body on a cellular level. After the Storm I don't feel anxious or sad, but blissful of all emotions. One of my favorite ambient albums I never thought I would like. Favorite track: Epilogue.

Berkdrums I’m stunned..silent after the storm. I feel emotional, stillness and deeply moved after the first listen.. Wow Mathias. I tried to inagine the mood you were in while creating this masterpiece, and I understand só deeply why you say it’s your most important work.. I drive by this war-cemetry almost daily, while going teaching my music-classes. Cars are racing by, in a hurry, like no one pays attention to these white crosses.. So intriguing, all these unknown victims of war. Makes me silent..

Paul Asbury Seaman Some of this might sound like space music, but Grassow is speaking to a different kind of wonder. This 4-hour adagio is a requiem with no cathartic crescendos, determined to preserve hope, while facing the enormity of these events and what they reveal about us. I am astounded that such an explosive subject could be portrayed in the gentle medium of ambient music. Grassow has succeeded magnificently, with the most deeply moving work I have heard in a long time. [reviewed 9/11/2019]

Guest Host On this very fine work, MG seems to leap forward in some surprising ways, integrating his recent experimentalism with central ideas from his earlier sound to come up with something entirely new. It can be quite exciting + rewarding when artists as talented as MG continue to grow so as to challenge both themselves and their listeners. Favorite track: 1914 - Mobilization.

about

The topic of this new album has long been close to my heart.
Both world wars significantly changed the world and still influence our daily lives today.
After long deliberation, I decide to use only years as a godparent for the events as a name, free of any prefabricated opinion and direction.
Again, there is no accusation, no conviction and no influence, but everyone has the freedom to find themselves, their parents, or grandparents in the years.
No matter from which side one looks at these two wars, terrible atrocities would be committed everywhere.
With this work I want to use the music as a non-verbal means of communication. I would like to transform bewilderment and dismay into inner peace and silence in the heart and wish that this has been achieved.
Right now we are in such dire need of looking closely at what is happening politically with humans and the environment worldwide.
This work, which I call my most important work, stands for forgiveness and love. It is dedicated to all the dead and suffering. It affects us all - everyone and everywhere.

This project is by no means finished with the musical representation, but should live, remind, admonish and enlighten. ..... 80 years ago World War II broke out and now the world is burning again .....
I wish a lot of feedback on this work.
Anyone who has touching pictures from this period and would like to be part of this project, feel free to contact me here.....
Maybe there will be a kind of "CD-book", a lyrical work with pictures, texts and of course CD's ... - maybe......no promises......
